Monitoring and Evaluation of Socio-economic Development Initiatives

MRD has also provided impact assessment (monitoring and evaluation) consulting services for government and non-governmental organisations’ initiatives on poverty alleviation, job creation, food security, HIV/AIDS, gender and energy consumption, sustainable development and the millennium development goals and municipal service delivery.

  • Between 2009 and 2010, Dr Sizwe Phakathi conducted a mini-participant observation research on “Factors Affecting Municipal Billing and Revenue Collection Systems and Customer Delivery in the City of Johannesburg and eThekwini Municipality” –a service delivery research project subcontracted by the Sociology of Work Programme (SWOP) Institute at the University of the Witwatersrand for the Office of Presidency, Republic of South Africa.
